Hi Nicolas, Jan & Dennis,
this sounds like an awesome project, you are more than welcome to get
involved!
We are on Github, this mailing list and on IRC (#ohm on oftc-net) with
additional docs on the OSM wiki etc
The "time slider" is on our plates and it's a challenge. Some people have
attempted solutions to some parts of this before on OHM and should be
reviewed. Have a search through github issues and mailing list, but also we
can sort out a dev hangout if you need a deep dive into the technology
stack.
The GUI...it's not just one user interface, though, there are several
components, some separate, for example the editor and the tile server, and
some tied in, for example the history pages - but pretty much everything is
available to get started developing locally.
In general, it's still a small project with not many developers working on
it, so any extra help is wanted.
Welcome to OpenHistoricalMap!
cheers,
Tim
