Hi all -
Catching up after a slow 2 weeks around the 4th of July holiday!
Guest attendee today from Palestine Open Maps.
Attendees: Dan Rademacher, Sanjay Bhangar, Jim McAndrew, Majd Al-shihabi ,
me
*Dev* - down to two major issues related to integrating the vector tile
timeslider prototype with the web site. One is related to turning off the
timeslider when we switch layers and the other is related to some style
issues. Jim M is the lead and we will have a progress update in two weeks.
*Site Ops* - SSL upgrades and updates of the OHM website code are also in
progress. Rob W is the lead here. ETA: end of July.
*Supporting content* - how-to's, case studies, demos, etc. - no progress
here.
*Palestine Open Maps* - Majd provided an overview of Palestine Open Maps
<https://palopenmaps.org/about>, which presents historical raster maps of
Palestine and serves as a platform for storing vector-data related to those
maps. Its tech stack is also based on OSM, leveraging OSM Seed
<https://github.com/developmentseed/osm-seed>. Majd expressed an interest
in leveraging whatever makes sense from OHM, including data sharing. We
agreed to share more info offline and see what types of cooperation make
sense. This is a very cool opportunity and the type of community building
we'd like to see in OHM!
*SotM US* - this wasn't discussed at the meeting, but I just received
notification that our proposal to give a talk at State of the Map US this
year has been accepted. I had proposed talking about our vector tiles
implementation, but am open to all suggestions about what to present.
*Next meeting* - 24 July, 10am PST - meet.google.com/bbn-yhvo-cps
Thanks,
Jeff
