Hi all -

A few quick updates on what's going on with the site and OHM in general.

*In genera*l - we're (myself, Shekhar Krishnan, Richard Welty, & anyone
else who wants to join in & have a say!) looking to get organized slightly
more formally. This will mean clearer governance (e.g. how the site is run,
how new features are added, who has a say in all of that, a code of
conduct, do we have a formal org?) and hopefully, greater community and
transparency. Richard has taken the lead on the task of figuring out if
there are partnerships for this org that make sense. Many thanks to Richard
for this.

With that said, to be clear about who's doing what right now & where the
conversations are taking place & help of any type in any area is most
welcome.
*- Dev work* - largely being performed by GreenInfoNetwork (Dan Rademacher,
Gregor Allenworth, Seth Fitzsimmons, Jim McAndrew & several others over the
past 2 years) and DevSeed (Sanjay Bhangar, Sajjad Anwar, and Ruben Lopez
Mendoza). I've been funding this work in the hopes that we could make the
site more appealing to new users and other projects.
*- Site ops -* currently being managed by the OHM org on AWS. This team
currently consists of GIN & DevSeed people, but we are open to volunteer
efforts (especially once we get through this migration).

*Migration progress* - we are getting closer to having the new site up and
running. Migrating the database has not been as plug and play as we would
have hoped, so Sanjay, Sajjad, and Ruben are busy running down all the
issues (e.g., why isn't ID working? why aren't the tiles updating as
quickly as we'd like).

What I can report is this - I have:
- Logged onto the new server using my old credentials & seen my mail
- Seen old changesets on the new server
- Seen diary entries from the old site
- Uploaded data to test out the API

So... we're getting close. I'm very excited about where we're headed and
thanks for your patience in the meantime!

Also, great places to stay connected that have a little less overhead than
email:
#openhistoricalmap on OSM-US Slack: https://slack.openstreetmap.us/
#openhistoricalmap on OSM World Discord: https://discord.gg/J6H3Za

Thanks & let me know if you have any questions - I'm sure I've missed
something,
Jeff
