Hi,

WorldView-2 imagery of large parts of Khartoum metropolitan area, taken
on August 8 and 11, has been made available by US Department of State
Humanitarian Information Unit, through the Imagery to the Crowd Initiative.

This imagery has now been "pan-sharpened" and is available online as
Tile Mapping Service, on an OpenStreetMap France server (image
processing was performed on a server donated with hosting by Fondation
d'entreprise Free, using free software, Gdal and Orfeo toolbox).

It is interesting to look at imagery from both dates, as water levels
may be different in various places, and they do not cover exactly the
same area.

Access requires acceptation of NextView license, and it is requested
that "source=NextView" be mentioned when the imagery is used for
mapping. To check that you have accepted this license, please go through
the "Workflow tab" on http://tasks.hotosm.org/job/303 (Aug. 11 imagery)
and http://tasks.hotosm.org/job/304 (Aug. 8 imagery) to get the TMS URLs
(in JOSM format). (OSM account required).

The imagery has not been accurately positioned with ground control
points. Please adjust its offset before using it for tracing, using, for
example, available Bing imagery, or available GPS tracks. Séverin has
already registered offsets for the August 11 imagery in the offset
database, available through the imagery_offset_db JOSM plugin.

Best wishes,

Jean-Guilhem
