Hi,
this is the Eurosha volunteers from CAR, currently in refuge in Cameroun.
So far we have been using this convention (for Bangui and a few cities
taken by the rebels). We have chosen this classification based on the
importance of the roads (not necessarily the size or surface).
- Primary - The main axes connecting the biggest cities and a the most
important roads in Bangui.
- Secondary - The roads connecting big cities with villages and a bit
less important roads in Bangui.
- Tertiary - not really used except for a few roads in Bangui
- Residential - used for all the roads where houses are around
- Tracks - the small roads going outside the residential areas
- Path - little roads just for pedestrians, not big enough for a car
(however, the Centralafricans consider every road big enough for a car :))
For an example, check the city of Bria (http://tasks.hotosm.org/job/134),
feel free to have a look at the whole city, it is not big.
We are going to add the typology of roads on the wiki page for CAR (
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Central_African_Republic)
but before that we will be happy for more suggestions on this.
Sincerely
Eurosha CAR team
