[HOT] Restarting the HMP on India Floods in Uttarakhand

Hi Tom

I am please to see that the activation guys are coming back.  If you look at a general OSM map of the area, the blank portion north of this region correspond to himalyan glaciers.  And closer to the glacier, there are probably areas that are lavished at rainy season. This is hard to interpret when we have bad imagery.

To my point of view, until we have more precise priorities identified by the ground people, I would start to look at the various valleys north of the region close to the Himalaya. These correspond on the OSM map to the green fingers coming out of the glaciers.  


The Disaster Mitigation and Management Center   of the Government Of Uttarakhand publishes some map that can help us to focus on these areas. But do not forget that until we obtain information to import any of this information, we cannot copy from these maps. We can only use these to help find information.

For the problem you presented in your email, these maps will help you evaluate if there are any roads and villages to identify in the area.
