Hi,
As you know Early August 2013, Khartoum, the Capital city of Sudan,
experienced extremely heavy rains that have turned into floods, houses
falling, areas drowning, victims. This also caused problems of drinking
water supply and sanitation.
Several TM jobs have been created and a lot of contributions have been
made, thanks to everyone. This area needs though to be finished:
http://tasks.hotosm.org/job/289 (not very extended, not very long to
achieve) and streets are still missing there:
http://tasks.hotosm.org/job/293. I hope I can find the time to write a blog
post about it,
On mid-September, MapAction, member of the Digital Humanitarian Network
like HOT, has deployed two HIM experts in Khartoum to support the
information management in the recovery phase. Having direct partners in the
field, users of the OSM data, is a real opportunity to get better
understanding about the needs of baseline data provided by OSM.
Last but not least, I would like to know if someone would be interested to
join this activation as 1 hard to find the time to follow alone 2 the more
we are able to run activation the more we can react often and efficiently 3
more motivating to do it as a team than alone. It basically encompasses
following the humanitarian news, discussed with stakeholders and DHN
partners, manage TM jobs Hot Exports jobs, discussing and motivating the
community, etc.
Sincerely,
Severin
