Dear All,
Thank you very much to the 15 contributors who have already participated in
mapping/validating Boende surroundings in DRC (cf task #626). 36 hours
after posting the task, 96% of the area had been covered. Doctors without
Borders is enthusiastic about getting those data.
A new task is now open, basically covering the same area, in order to map
all visible houses (building=yes). This will help assessing population
density. Since all residential areas have already been mapped in the
previous task, it is not needed anymore to check a whole square for finding
buildings, you can zoom into the existing data and map from there. Because
contributing to tasks in that part of the world usually means looking at
many many trees... this time, I promise, it is more comfortable. Check it
here! http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/629
I also wanted to mention that there are organisations and projects which
are currently trying to make some data available under open license, to be
integrated into OSM too. We are grateful for all the connections and help
from HOT community.
Claire
