[HOT] HOT Activation tasks in one table + advice to create wiki templates?

Hello Sev,

I'll totally admit that I helped drop the ball on this one - still have
somewhere on my ToDo list to help the Activation WG create those templates
and the process.

I think the best course of action is to get this information into a working
group's hands - which is a larger thing we are working towards; if there is
something you could put into the wiki that would help immediately, I would
say, please do. otherwise I hope we'll start hearing lots more WG
meetings/schedules towards the summer months (maybe sooner.)

Subject: [HOT] HOT Activation tasks in one table + advice to create wiki
templates?

Hi,

Currently, for anyone that would like to follow and/or participate to an
Activation, it is not very easy to have a clear overview of what has been
done and what could be done, as an activation do not encompass only TM jobs
as tasks. uMap
<http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map/central-african-republic_3868#6/6.326/1
9.841> can provide a good overview of the mapping of locations to be mapped
but it does not provide a clear historic of the various tasks that brought
to the current state. Beyond the HOT activations, it is the same for local,
emerging OSM communities.

In order to get everyone better aware of the mapping progresses, as well as
the ongoing and pending tasks, I made this sortable wikitable:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Central_African_Republic/HOT_Activation_t
asks that you can access from the main page:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Central_African_Republic#Contributing

As you can see, it lists (by chronological order of starting) not only TM
jobs, but also mapping outside the TM, Validations, imports and imagery
tasks. An easy way to make people contribute to other tasks than the TM
jobs. There is a column to see what is pending, ongoing or done. Easy to
follow with the wiki watchlist (for those who do not know: when logged in,
just click on the white star on the top bar, it turns blue and whenever the
page is updated you will receive an email (maybe check you settings to be
sure it is configured this way).

I put a starting and a finishing date, what makes realize how fast the
community often responds. Even I, leading the Activation, had not such a
clear overview of the tasks already done (if I forgot some, please do not
hesitate to update the table), what neither the TM website, the blogposts
nor the wikipage provided.

The table template could surely be improved:

- maybe the time template (the one used does not encompass the years)

- would be great to create templates for both the Type (TM job, Validation,
Imagery, Mapping, Import) and Status (Done, Ongoing, Pending) columns, to
make them automatically colored in order to facilitate the reading, as it
exists eg for yes/no (see here <http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Android>
). I did not find a guide explaining how to create them, does anyone know?

Thanks for your comments and contributions!

Sincerely,

Severin
