Hi,
This year State of the map Scotland is having an International Development Fair, where we are introducing ourselves to various groups and Charities
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/State_of_the_Map_Scotland_2015/Day_1

After working on this for several months I just thought I'd let HOT know what I have found out. Out of the 70 or so groups that I have contacted none have heard of Openstreetmap before but they are interested.
We are now recognised by NIDOS
http://www.nidos.org.uk/
which is the scottish version of DFID
https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-international-development
The International Development umbrella organisations are interested in the Sustainable Development Goals
https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/topics/sustainabledevelopmentgoals
which so happens to match well with openstreetmap
The ID fair that we are creating is working well to bring together all sizes of groups and act as an introduction to us to get name recognition and understand the concept of OSM which hopefully will lead to participation. The potential for openstreetmap is excellent but we need to reach out to them rather than wait for them to find us because it is just not something that they are thinking about. If you are having a local Missing maps session please keep inviting them.

Although at it's early stages, I am hoping to arrange some to the major charities to connect with Missing Maps in a loose and mutually beneficial collaboration. The larger charities need to have the consistancy of structure that local volunteers are not able to provide and it is easier for them to identify with the British Red Cross and Medicin San Frontier.

Cheers
Bob
