Hello!
My name is Regina Campos, I'm 22 years old, I studied Communications, I
live in Cusco, Peru; and I work at GAL Center, an organization that
develops and carries out social projects in the region.
In Cusco, every day we face problems such as: teenage pregnancy,
malnutrition and anemia in children under 5, prevention of natural
disasters and gender inequality. I believe that the main tool to solve
these problems and achieve the development of our country is education. We
need students from school to be able to reflect on their reality and train
them as leaders for the future.
Our project deals precisely with that: We want to improve education,
specifically, facilitate access to technology for high school and
university students so that, through digital maps, investigate problems
affecting our community.
We will work with two groups:
1.
In schools: We will train high school students from 4 schools in
different provinces of Cusco to investigate gender issues using digital
mapping and KoboCollect.
1.
In universities: We will work with the YouthMappers Chapters which we
helped to create this year. With them we will carry out multidisciplinary
projects on different social issues such as teenage pregnancy and mental
health.
The results obtained by both groups will be presented in a public event to
which authorities from the region will be invited.
With your help, next year more than 200 students from Cusco will develop
their tech skills and improve their education.
