[HOT] Activation Updates August 18

Dear HOT Community,

Here is a brief update on the current Activations:

*Haiti Earthquake* - after Tropical Storm Grace passed over the earthquake
zone, wind and rain added complications to the response efforts and caused
additional damage. We received a request from the IFRC in the region to
generate as much base data as possible in the next 5 days. Therefore we
have continued to add *mapping projects in the impacted area (see here
<https://tasks.hotosm.org/explore?campaign=Haiti%20Earthquake%202021>)*.
MAXAR quickly released imagery of the area post-event and our partners at
Mapbox and our Missing Maps - HeiGIT - was able to create a rapid *preliminary
damage assessment project on Mapswipe <https://mapswipe.org>* - note this
is an experimental way to do remote damage assessment and therefore our
priority will remain generating the pre-event base data.

*Algeria Fires* - having finished mapping the area impacted by the fire
near Béjaïa, we have begun releasing *projects for the area impacted by the
larger fire near Tizi Ouzou, Algeria (see here
<https://tasks.hotosm.org/explore?campaign=Mediterranean%20Wildfires%202021>)*.
This area will be generally a bit more densely populated so beginners
should not hesitate to split or unlock tasks that will take more than 20-30
minutes to complete.

*COVID Vaccination* - we are still *mapping South Sudan (see here
<https://tasks.hotosm.org/explore?campaign=COVID%20Vaccination>) for the
equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccination*. There are a few
projects nearly complete, please help us get them to 100%
