<div dir="ltr"><div>Greetings humanitarian OpenStreetMap community,</div><div><br></div><div>It's New Year's Eve! Once you've had your celebrations and made your resolutions, there will be opportunities to get involved in promoting the usage of OSM in emergency/disaster response. One way might be to get involved in this tagging proposal I am forwarding to you. Upon first glance it seems like a great overall objective 'consolidate tagging of disaster response agencies into "emergency=disaster_response"' but I think this one will need to be explored a bit more to work out some nuance such as 'it is just an office, or is there 'deployable resources' contained there?' I look forward to following where the discussion goes, please join me on the tagging list or the proposal wiki-page you can find in the forwarded email attached.</div><div><br></div><div>Mappy New Year everyone!</div><div>=Russ</div><div></div><div><div><br clear="all"><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div></div><div><b><span style="color:rgb(204,0,0)">Russell Deffner</span></b></div><div><b><font size="1"><span style="color:rgb(102,102,102)">Disaster Response Coordinator+</span><br></font></b></div><div><font size="1"><a href="mailto:Russell.Deffner@hotosm.org" target="_blank">Russell.Deffner@hotosm.org</a></font></div><div><span style="color:rgb(102,102,102)"><b><font size="1">OpenStreetMap: russdeffner | +8 UTC</font></b></span></div><div><span style="color:rgb(102,102,102)"><b><font size="1"><a href="https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/selfsched?sstoken=UUU3YUV5N3BjMzcxfGRlZmF1bHR8N2E2OGRjZmJkN2U0NDIzOWUxMjAyNmRiYzdhM2RhNzI" target="_blank">Click here to find a meeting time</a><br></font></b></span></div><div><br></div><div><font color="#888888"><div><b><font color="#cc0000">Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team</font></b></div><div><b><font size="1" color="#666666">Using OpenStreetMap for Humanitarian Response & Economic Development</font></b></div><div><font color="#888888"><div><span style="color:rgb(0,255,255)"><font size="1"><a href="http://hotosm.org/" target="_blank">web</a> | <a href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Humanitarian_OSM_Team" target="_blank">wiki </a>| <a href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Humanitarian_OSM_Team#Contact_and_Media_Resources" target="_blank">contact </a>| <a href="http://hotosm.org/feedback" target="_blank">feedback </a>| <a href="http://donate.hotosm.org/" target="_blank">donate</a></font></span></div></font></div></font></div></div></div></div><br><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">---------- Forwarded message ---------<br>From: <b class="gmail_sendername" dir="auto">Tom Pfeifer</b> <span dir="auto"><<a href="mailto:t.pfeifer@computer.org">t.pfeifer@computer.org</a>></span><br>Date: Wed, Dec 30, 2020 at 4:16 AM<br>Subject: [Tagging] Draft: emergency=disaster_response<br>To: Tag discussion, strategy and related tools <<a href="mailto:tagging@openstreetmap.org">tagging@openstreetmap.org</a>><br></div><br><br><a href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/emergency%3Ddisaster_response" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/emergency%3Ddisaster_response</a><br>
<br>
Despite some previous discussions, 2017 here on the list, or on various wiki pages, there is still <br>
no worldwide consistent tagging for providers of disaster response services.<br>
<br>
I am preparing a proposal that recommends the use of "emergency=disaster_response" to provide<br>
a way to Migrate from tags that:<br>
<br>
- work in one nation only, like (emergency=ses_station (189x) from Australia<br>
- do not use the emergency key, like amenity=emergency_service (805x) + emergency_service=technical <br>
(822x), predominantly used in Germany for THW, and a dozen mis-tagged hospitals around the word.<br>
<br>
Such services or the governmental and non-governmental organisations that provides them, come with <br>
different names in different countries.<br>
<br>
Potential examples to be included:<br>
<br>
Australia: State Emergency Service<br>
Germany: Bundesamt für Bevölkerungsschutz und Katastrophenhilfe (BKK) and Technisches Hilfswerk (THW)<br>
Austria: Oberösterreichischer Zivilschutzverband<br>
Brazil: Civil defense in Brazil<br>
Greece: Oberösterreichischer Zivilschutzverband (Civil Protection)<br>
Ukraine: Державна служба України з надзвичайних ситуацій (State Emergency Service)<br>
Mexico: Civil Protection / Protección Civil<br>
Czechia: Civilní obrana<br>
<br>
<br>
While the proposed tag is meant for the stations that provide the technical equipment and<br>
accommodates the helpers on stand-by,<br>
"office=disaster_response" could be used in addition for administrative/planning/management offices <br>
that do not have the equipment there.<br>
<br>
Could you please contribute by naming the services in your nations, check which fit the description<br>
and which do not, and your general opinion about the tag.<br>
