Actually, any language but Perl. Joke aside, I might have a look at
converting in Python for integration with my current import script.
Else, I have no reason to rewrite what you did. I use languages as I
need them, which is currently at work mostly Python and C#.
By the way, the French community has a modified version of the
bulk_upload program with a SAX reader for performance and a few more
error recovery niceties. It was hacked by Yann Coupin.
I am using Python because the tool (polyshp2osm) was using Python
originally, but I find Perl very difficult to get into.
