Which, in case this needs refreshing, was the result of a month-long
discussion on talk-us and essentially everyone in the community agreeing
that it should be done.

At the time, these unnecessary tags made up more than 12% of the planet
file and were responsible for about one third of the time it took to
process a planet file - a bit like buildings in France nowadays.

Which are of course not unnecessary, just about the same proportional
amount of data.
