you will have to dig through history anyway. E.g.

1. someone traces a building and adds building=yes and source=bing_aerial_imagery

2. you perform a survey and see it was erected in 1902, so you add start_date=1902 and change source to survey.

to see this was traced from Bing, you have to look at the object history.

Or you change the source in step 2 to source=Bing;survey

Now you have to analyze the history to understand which property came through which source.

Or in step 3 you import building:levels from the municipality. source=xy_authoritative_source
(or “Bing;survey;xy”). Either way you have to analyze history if you want to see where these properties come from.

you might argue that this is solvable with more specific source tags, e.g. source:addr or source:position
https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=source

But even then how would you tag if you traced a building from mapbox and later adjusted one detail from Bing? source:position (or geometry) Bing;Mapbox? What does it tell you without looking at the history?

Cheers
Martin
