[Imports] Hydrographic data import from LINZ

Hi, I’m not sure what you mean by ‘geometrically incompatible features’
As we discussed in that changeset, I can’t see this ‘damage to the database’ that you’re talking about.

The link you referred to is a bit confusing beacuse it shows every node/way/relation in OSM, rendered in the same colour.

https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1cjT is a view of the same area, with streams and crevasses coloured differently.
>From this map you can see that the waterways are logically mapped, as are crevasses.

The red lines may look ‘messy’, but this is because there are many crevasses within the Canada Glacier.
If you’re unfamiliar with this type of terrain, see https://wiki.osm.org/File:Parque_estatal_Chugach,_Alaska,_Estados_Unidos,_2017-08-22,_DD_94.jpg

Hope this clarifies the situation

Best regards,
Kyle

I like to point out that this import proposal is part of a series of
imports that has proven to be problematic in results as previously
pointed out (non-successfully) to the importer:

https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/111427028

In particular

has been proven to be incorrect as evidenced by the speed of the
imports:

https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/kylenz_linz/history

and the resulting damage to the database, littering it with
geometrically incompatible features, like for example visible here:
