That's sad!
As I said, I don't have lot's of knowledge about these things, so I was
expecting the switch to Mercator solves problems instead of creating new
:-(((
If switching to Mercator means that we cannot use landsat images, I'll
tend to switch back to EPSG. Landsat is the only WMS that I can use here
in Nürnberg and loosing this opportunity (how ever "low resolution"
these pictures might be) is not worth to have "circular circles" IMHO.
This happens if a developer develops things he has no real clue about ;-)

P.S: Nonetheless, improving the WMS plugin to show a warning if the
projection doesn't match the WMS capabilities, seems to be a *very* good
idea to me. I guess there are more mappers out there that don't have a
real clue about the projection and getting "strange" WMS images because
of wrong projection is probably not very intuitive and not the best way
to deal with this ...
