That could cause trouble in certain (real) circumstances. I've noticed
that many of the Irish place nodes I imported from the GNS data file
have landed at the identical location of another (possibly due to an
unfortunately coarse granularity in the source data). Obviously the
correct solution to this is to move the two apart, but to do that in a
useful way needs somebody who has surveyed the area or is able by some
other means to arbitrate on the matter. In the meantime, you'll end up
with nasty attribute conflicts if you go through with what you
suggest.
