That should already work. Thought there is no interface to it yet. Did you 
make such an interface?

Invisible is not good. This will result in many duplicate work like we 
know from Potlatch. In background or inactive is better.

Even working with the current layer mechanism where the layers can hold 
identical data set is not really fine.
