The proxy problem I understand. The other not.

Please post the commandline you used in detail and make the image 
available which is the result. 42kb is a lot for an empty image.

What OS do you use exactly. Did you try with firewall disabled? What 
firewall do you use?

Do you have other QT components installed? The downloader may fail with 
older QT versions (There have been bugs in QT < 4.4.1).

The webkit-image tool is very new and only little tested, so there may be 
errors there. On the other hand it is straightforward tool, so I do not 
expect many errors.

I tested it on WindowsXP myself and had no problems.

Today I tried Windows Vista and failed.
