I don't quite understand but I'm happy to try out your patch. However 
this list has the unfortunate habit of scrubbing attachments. If you 
could just open a ticket in the JOSM trac (josm.openstreetmap.de, no 
account required) and attach your patch there, or e-mail it to me directly?
