[josm-dev] Raw GPS data downloaded via JOSM is disabled from editing.

Hi,
I downloaded raw GPS data using JOSM.I would like to be able to tag some  trails since I am familiar with the area.
However JOSM greys out/disables  all the tools when it shows the raw GPS traces.I also downloaded OSM data for exactly the same bounding box. I am able to view the OSM data for the same areaWhile JOSM would let me select objects from OSM data but it does  not let me do any operation on the raw GPS tracesother than viewing them.
I would really appreciate a response as to how I should go about editing raw GPS traces in JOSM.
