When I read the search help you should probably better say: the search
is exposed to highly advanced users or developers ;-)

That's just not true. There are several users out there who've written
their own styles or at least "patched" the existing style.
When i compare the number of questions about it and the number of styles
in the Wiki [1], a lot of them aren't doing it in public.

That's obvious.

We don't have a user-friendly program to edit the stylesheets. To be
honest I've personally not seen *any* user friendly program for *any*
OSM renderer to edit any of the stylesheets.
What you are actually saying is: I don't care if a non developer can
edit this, as long as I can do what I want.
With your approach there's unfortunately a price for all of us to pay:
less people will be able or willing to contribute.
I've spend a lot of time maintaining the elemstyles.xml and I recently
got the hope that more people will help in this effort by providing
their "special topic" styles.
In the years passed, all of the problems I've heard were about getting a
special display done somehow. *None* so far asked about search terms.
