it looks very stylish and works well!

Still the workflow with all shortcuts and modifiers is a little strange, 
but it's not your fault I guess. It is a general problem of JOSM. Maybe 
you could allow to execute the alignment with ENTER key and allow to 
define the reference segment by simply clicking 2 nodes. (This is 
consistent with orthogonalize tool.)

The different modifiers of the standard tools are quite useful, but hard 
to remember (and we would like to add even more submodes/modeoptions, 
see #4190) so maybe there is a better way to expose these to the user. 
E.g. the paining programme gimp has options for the current tool in the 
lower left part.
