[josm-dev] JMapViewer versioning/backwards compatibility

hello JOSM developers,
[I first tried to post directly via josm-dev at openstreetmap.org,
but it didn't seem to work so now I'm using gmane]
thanks for the JMapViewer software. Sorry if this is the wrong list,
I couldn't find a more relevant list or a JMapViewer maintainer.
I am looking for an "upstream" contact for JMapViewer, because we are
packaging it for inclusion in Debian (actually Andrew is, see CC:).
One concern is: Could you consider making JMapViewer releases with
version numbers? That would make the Debian packaging easier / more
meaningful. Do you keep backward compatibility (that would be important
for the freeplane Debian package)?
The third thing (I don't think we can do anything here, just wanted
to let you know):
It (at least the demo) crashes with JDK6 (on Linux) [1] Is this known?
IMHO this should be documented on the homepage :-) It seems to work ok
with OpenJDK7 (on Linux).
[1] I can supply the crash logs if you need them.
Thank you!
Best Regards,
