[josm-dev] Selection, purge and layer operations

I have tried now even a 4th variant: merge selection
created a new empty layer and merged the selection, unfortunately this also
duplicated the (unselected) ways of the selected nodes and also other nodes
part of these ways, which also hadn't been selected. As this seems clearly
a bug, I have opened a ticket here:
