Hi!
LearnOSM team, I need you!
I am in touch with @pyrog who is willing to help with Github, Jekyll
to make a more efficient site.
You can read some of his ideas and proposals as issues eg.
https://github.com/hotosm/learnosm/issues/306
You can find a preliminary but working staging site at
https://github.com/hotosm/learnosm/issues/306#issuecomment-70995791
http://pyrog.github.io/learnosm-sandbox/en/
The main change is to use Jekyll as static pages directly in language folders
https://github.com/pyrog/learnosm-sandbox
instead of the blog structure with content in folder _posts.
Because after all LearnOSM is a kind of books with sections and
chapters, not a dated blog.
This should allow much more flexibility and ease of use for built-in
or add-on Jekyll features such as layouts, elaborate markdown,
glossary, export formats...
I have now a few questions:
- Do you agree we can consider this proposal for structure change?
- (optionally) Why was the blog _posts structure chosen previously?
- What is Jessica working on (now or planned)?
- Jessica's work: Does it collide or complement with the current
actions and proposals of @pyrog?
- What kind of features would you like to see tested by priority on a
staging site
- and any insights you may share...
Cheers
