althio,
I don't know. I have no background in github or github pages. I found it
a real headache trying to get to grips with what existed. The site seems
to have evolved over time and some of the system we have now is probably
not as well organised as newer sites being started from scratch.
Looking at pyrog's profile on GitHub, it appears they have far more
knowledge on the subject than I do - have also contributed to the
Tasking Manager software, where there are many experts who would be able
to assess worth with more expertise than me.
I'm waiting for more input before commenting too much, but the way
GitHub is organised I believe that someone could make major changes to a
fork, such as a complete reorganisation of how the filing is done, and
then offer it for assessment. You can download the fork, run it onsite
using Jekyll and assess it - I expect there are software tools that can
carry out other checks, but I'm not familiar with them. If everyone is
happy with the fork, then it is merged & we have the same site, but with
better organisation - I think............
Personally I welcome any input which may improve the organisation -
producing pdf's that can be printed for mapathons strikes me as a good
idea & I think that the proposed reorganisation would help this. There
may be other benefits, but I don't know.
Regards
Nick
