Hey, this is a legal- list, that's almost a prerequisite.

One of the "fun" things about OSM is that not only are we a data  
project (there's some, though sporadic and inconsistent, case law on  
that); not only are we an open data project (there's basically nothing  
on that); we're a _collaborative_ open data project.

Most of the received wisdom goes out the window at this point, and in  
particular, applying EU database right or anything similar to a  
databse with millions of authors becomes very, very difficult.
