If I understand the CC guys correctly, database right is explicitly
NOT covered in the CC-BY-SA license, i.e. if you make a database
available under CC-BY-SA, the user can still violate database right
by using your data - the exception being CC-BY-SA Belgium and
Netherlands. (From the link that Richard posted recently.)
Which, if true, means that
* anyone under European jurisdiction cannot copy "substantial parts"
of our data without fear of legal troubles, even if he strictly
adheres to CC-BY-SA;
* anyone not under European jurisdiction can take our data and do
what he or she wants without fear of legal troubles, even if he or
she completely disregards CC-BY-SA.
Which, if true, means that
* the effort we invest in collecting the data is potentially helping
businesses everywhere except in our home continent.
Which isn't too bad since our home continent has enough wealth already.
Still...
Bye
Frederik
