"All of our creativity" at the most applies to just a few people on the
legal talk list.

Seconded. The mapping based on the aerial imagery at the London mapping
party was great, and that was only with the applet + printouts that
people made (I'm not sure about the legality of those printouts ;-) )

But the more extreme example is Baghdad. We now have the best on-line
map of Baghdad. It was done entirely by tracing yahoo imagery, then
getting local people to add street names.

P.s. please not that it is not satellite imagery, it is aerial imagery
(from aircraft) that is the most interesting. So don't say things like
"lets hire a satellite from QinetiQ", say things like "I've got a friend
who's got a pilot license - I'll ask him about carrying a camera and a GPS".
