You are aware that there are aspects to life that aren't connected to
copyright?  Like the definition of geodata.

Again, not connected to copyright.  This is a very good analogy of
your point about digital versions.  The copyright status of the items
has absolutely nothing to do with the validity of the analogy or the
facts behind it.
