[Mailman] authentication

hey, I've recently been trying to contribute on OSM. when I choose to edit
with ID editor, a window labeled "Authentication required" keeps popping
up, on top of the imagery, asking for my user name and password. No matter
how many times I put my user name and password, this window keeps popping
up. This is a little odd because this happens at a time I have already
logged into OSM. When I cancel the window and continue with editing anyway
and try to save my changes, a blank window keeps opening and i fail to
upload the edits. I wanted to know what i should do.
