[MapRoulette] Uploading mix of new and updated nodes? Mix of POST and PUT?

Is there a way to upload a bulk list with both new and "updated" nodes?

   The api supports POST for new nodes,
   PUT for updates,
   but no DELETE for clearing things out.

Each run, I have a list that contains mixed new and updated nodes.  I don't
keep any
sort of list of what's been uploaded before, as my script has no database
backend.

Using POST gives a "conflict" error.
