[Merkaartor] Assorted bugs

Dear,

Do you think it would be possible to have the GeoImage stuff stabilized by
next Monday (bugs excepted)?

There is still a release at hand, and I'd like at least a week of stability
before releasing.
As features (including strings) have been committed this week, we'll miss
this weekend deadline.

I'd really like to release next week so as to be able to move forward...
