[Merkaartor] Strange behavior with geotagged images

Hi Nicolas,

Drag-and-dropping your pictures inside the map works too.
When you click on one of the pictures in the map, that picture is displayed in the GeoImages dock.

 While writing this message, I figured out that opening instead of  importing works. Moreover, while I thought opening them would lead the current layers to be closed, they were not.
 Is that the expected behavior?
 
 Moreover, even though I could open my images, the GeoImage dockable window still appears to be empty. I may be missing something obvious, but what's the point of the window?
 
 For what it's worth, I'm using merkaartor as available in the Debian package version 0.18.1-3.
