[Merkaartor] UK Ordnance Survey GML files

Should merkaartor v0.18.2 be able to open the GML files of the UK Ordnance 
Survey 'Terrain 50' OpenData downloadable at

https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/business-and-government/products/terrain-50.html ?

then

https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/opendatadownload/products.html

then selecting the 'Download' box by 'OS Terrain 50' and clicking 'Next',

then filling in the form, the captcha and clicking 'Continue'.

It gives UK GML data in 10 km squares. I could email the gml and xml files 
from one square if someone is willing to test it.

Basically I am trying to find out the UK land area below the 300 m contour.
