Yes, that is what I meant. Nice stuff. So... if one uses that tool on
the area we were talking about [1] we can see some interesting
differences between the building outlines on the google photography
and the OSM building outlines. If these differences (or 'signatures')
were also found on a copyright source to a significant degree and no
formal permission is available then we should report the contribution
to the Dat Working Group for investigation.
The only thing that stops me doing so is that I don't know who might
have copyright data for the place. Google don't have it, and nor does
Bing so I wonder who does - possibly the local authorities.
While investigating this I have created an image from OSM Mapper to
see when the contributions occurred and who has been contributing in
the area. The import we are talking about occurred in about January
with nothing done since or indeed before.[2] What is noticeable is
the way the building import stops at the top left of the image on a
solid horizontal line.
I then checked using OSM Mapper and have identified another user has
imported buildings north of that line in about April time.[3] This
certainly looks like a bulk import in two batches.
