hi Vim,

The problem is that the copyright to the maps you are talking about is held
by the NGI.  If they do not license the works as public domain, or if they
do no expressly give permission to derive works from the maps, then OSM
cannot use them, as we would be infringing the copyright of the NGI.

The most common way to collect information for OSM is by using GPS traces.
Take a look at:

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide

Follow some of the links and see how we reccommend you add data.  If you
find something confusing or hard to find, come back to teh list.  The most
helpful thing you could do would be to ask a qeustion on the list and then
add the informatino that you gathered from the list, to the wiki.
