Check that the MAPLINT Overlays feature is tuned off - this should cure the
problem.
( To find the Maplint on/off, click on the + sign on the top right hand side
of the edit screen)

Subject: [OSM-newbies] Openstreetmap rendering broken by ridiculous
errormessages

Has someone accidentally switched on some diagnostics for the rendering
of the main openstreetmap tiles?

The area to which I have been contributing has been rendered (in several
senses) almost unreadable by enormous icons with messages like
"not-in-map feature", "residential road without name" and much more.

While such things might perhaps be presented to a contributor they
certainly should not be presented in the world view which makes the
whole project look ridiculous.

And objecting *strongly* to roads (or other features) without names
seems ludicrous to me. If we don't know a name, are we supposed to
pretend that a mapped road doesn't exist?

But presumably this is just a mistake that will be fixed ASAP...

A Lawrence
