[OSM-newbies] Rendering problem

Hi

Following the guide given here
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Osmarender/Howto, I'm using JOSM to
d/load and save the file data.osm. The rendering itself works fine, however,
it seems that if the region downloaded has a long way marked up (eg railway
line) this is included in the data.osm file as well, usually resulting in a
.SVG which is mainly empty (because it includes the whole of the way).

Not sure if I've explained it very well, but here is a URL pasted from JOSM,
which should give a clearer idea of what I mean:

http://www.openstreetmap.org/index.html?lat=51.95
<http://www.openstreetmap.org/index.html?lat=51.95&lon=-0.25&zoom=11>
&lon=-0.25&zoom=11

My question is : can I 'clip' the input data.osm or output .SVG file in some
way to as to remove the part of teh way I'm not interested in?

Cheers
Richard
