The main problem with the NPE maps is alignment. The best way to  
solve this is to align one end of the road you want to trace with a  
GPS track - at a junction, maybe - so you know by how much to offset  
your tracing.

I've recently started work on rerectifying the maps so there's less  
distortion, but this will take a while!
