[OSM-newbies] Is osm faster?

I quit working on mapping for awhile and when I tried the website
again it seemed much faster. I'm in Korea and I always assumed
the map on the website loaded slowly because of the internet
connection between here and Europe because people
in Europe never complained.

Was there some kind of change to the system in the last few
months?
