[OSM-newbies] Libraries not being rendered

The Map Features page on the wiki says that a given tag may not get 
rendered by a given renderer. It'd be nice to know what gets rendered 
and what doesn't, but that's besides the question I am asking.

I added a bunch of libraries to OSM in my county using amenity=library 
tag as documented in the Map Features wiki page. The libraries are 
rendered by tiles at home Osmarender, but do not show up on Mapnik's tiles. 
On the other hands places like pubs show up quite nicely on Mapnik's 
output. Nothing against pubs, but IMHO libraries should have at least 
equal weight when it comes to showing up on a map.

If it is, in fact, not in Mapnik's rules to render libraries, how does 
one propose a change to Mapnik's rendering rules to include libraries?
