[OSM-newbies] Lake doesn't export

The Mapnik layer is rendered on a roughly weekly interval, but
Osmarender is rendered after a change has been detected (or a render
request has been explicitly made for the area concerned). So, Osmarender
should be more up-to-date than Mapnik.

 

To complicate matters, coastlines and I believe also lakes are not
rendered directly from OSM data (which is the source for the export
function) for Mapnik. Instead the bounds of the OSM data are put in a
format suitable for Mapnik rendering by a separate process at a fairly
regular interval (weekly, I think). However I understand that this was
interrupted until recently, so the Mapnik image's water data might be
stale.

I'm at openstreetmap.org after clicking the Export tab, and this is what
I've done: 

Entered 50.428, 115, 116.61, 49.6 
Maprik image, 1:500000, PNG 
and clicked Export. 

The preview shows a lake in the middle of the image, however the lake is
not present on the exported image. 

If I choose Osmarender, the lake is present in the exported image, but
with rectangular "holes" in the image. Osmarender then doesn't export
some of the other objects in the preview which Maprik does. 

Is this right/normal? If so, which (Maprik or Osmarender) is more
complete?
