[OSM-newbies] Making Garmin eTrex Vista responsive to a Linux system

Calling dmesg after plugging the device renders the following:

After a furtive hint of a list member I changed this to "SUBSYSTEM!=etc." and reloaded
udev, but to no avail. The above message says sth about sdc, but when I type in fdisk -l /dev/sdc,
the system says "couldn't open /dev/sdc".
