Following your advice I bought a 2GB card for good measure, which cost me
6 EUR. This was apparently necessary to be able to use the device as a
USB storage device at all.
I blame partly the interface of the Garmin device, which should really
say something like "you have to insert a microSD card into the slot now".
The owner's manual is not too explicit about this matter either.
