[OSM-newbies] how to download maps?

Hi Terra,

This is a similar tool, http://geo.topf.org/offline/index.html
do you see the list at the right bottom, I don't . I do not why this isn't working.
Do some one else is able to use this ?
( If this failes no need to unpack the files )

  I'm trying to download some OSM maps for a specific city and am having some difficulty.

  I tried installing OSMTileDownloader (<http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/OSMtiledownloader>) and copy / pasted the following URL into the Manual tab:

  http://www.openstreetmap.org/index.html?mlat=30.266667&mlon=-97.75&zoom=12

  I then changed the Tile storage folder, hit the Download button, and...  nothing happened.

  Any ideas?
