[OSM-newbies] When and what to upload

Hi Anne,

I know how you feel getting to grips with JOSM. It is
a great tool once you get the hang of it though!

My preferred way is to just make it as one way, then
split it by selecting the node that you want to split
it at, then pressing the P key to Part it into two
ways. If more than one way uses the node (eg at a
junction), you need to select the way as well as the
node by clicking the node, then shift-clicking the way
(or vice versa) before pressing P.

About how to place a node near to something without it
snapping to it - I tend to zoom in using the mouse
wheel, click to place the point, add the tags, then
zoom out again. 

I'm not a JOSM expert however, so there may be better
ways of doing it!
